Ministry Highlights
December 2024

About Village Mercy

At VM, we witness firsthand the devastating impact of addiction on individuals, families, and communities. We understand the deep pain and struggle that addiction brings, and we walk alongside men as they navigate the difficult path to recovery.

We believe that true freedom is found in the transformative power of Jesus Christ. Our 3-phase, 6-9 month residential program provides a structured, loving environment where men can find healing, restoration, and lasting change.

Our Vision

Helping those struggling with life-dominating habits gain lasting freedom.

Our Mission

Strengthen and equip those affected by any form of life-dominating habits in partnership with local churches

As 2024 draws to a close, my heart is full of gratitude. We’ve seen God’s hand at work in incredible ways this year, witnessing men find hope and healing through the power of the Gospel. It’s been a journey marked by both challenges and triumphs, but through it all, we’ve seen the strength of community and the power of connection. This December, we’ve been especially blessed to experience these connections in tangible ways, through shared meals, heartfelt conversations, and the building of bridges with different communities. These moments remind us of the simple yet profound truth of God’s love and the importance of standing together.

This December has been a time of rich experiences and meaningful connections. Here are a few highlights that have touched our hearts:

  • A Christmas Party (December 14th): The guys were so excited to be invited to a Christmas party hosted by BNI South Point. It was more than just a party; it was a chance to step outside the familiar and connect with people from all walks of life.
  • Over plates piled high with delicious food, laughter filled the air, and genuine conversations about life, family, and dreams for the future unfolded.
  • It was a beautiful reminder that we are all connected, sharing the same hopes and longings. This event created a real sense of belonging, reminding our residents that they are valued and seen.
  • We were deeply touched by the invitation from Pastor Siphiwe Khumalo and his congregation in Zola, Soweto, to join their church thanksgiving braai.
  • It was a warm and welcoming experience. The guys really enjoyed the chance to socialize, meet new people, and feel the genuine embrace of a loving church community.
  • It was a powerful demonstration of Christ’s inclusive love, bringing together people from different backgrounds in a spirit of unity and shared gratitude, echoing the joy of Psalm 126:3, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
  • Christmas Day was truly special this year. The Mabuza family from Kathorus Bible Church opened their hearts and home to our residents, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
  • It was a day filled with simple joys – games, laughter, a delicious feast, and the shared warmth of human connection. But more than that, it was a day to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ. His coming to earth was the ultimate expression of God’s love for us, a gift of grace that reconciles us to Him and offers the hope of new life. This message resonated deeply with our residents, many of whom are on their own journey of seeking forgiveness, healing, and a fresh start.
  • It was a beautiful reminder that even in the midst of struggles, there is always hope and the promise of new beginnings through Christ.

  • For God’s continued guidance and wisdom in our ministry.
  • For the ongoing healing and transformation of our residents.
  • For continued opportunities for connection within our community.

The pictures showcase moments from our Christmas Party, including Ivin Viljoen’s (Executive Director BNI) encouraging message to Village Mercy, Pastor Khumalo at the church braai, and the Christmas celebration lunch at the Mabuzas’ home.
